The Sufis never preached their Sufi beliefs known as Tasawwuf as a matter of general practice.
As a renowned sufi shaykh he wrote a numerous manuscripts on theology and tasawwuf (Sufism) that have circulated and influenced many of his companions and students; some of these have been directly attributed to him whilst others have been copied by his scribes who had been his disciples.
The Tariqa's focus and praxis became known as tasawwuf, or Sufism in English.
