It was in the Beezer I think, though I've a sneaking feeling they staged a comeback, a la Take That, in the Beano some years later.
At first glance it sounds like a prime candidate for the Beezer Book of Jolly Great Excuses, right up there with the best, like the British Rail classic of the wrong leaves on the line.
Straight to the top of the league table: The Ah Cannae Mind The Name O' It But It's That New Yin On The High Street Ken The Yin Wi The Beezer O A Barmaid, closely followed by the Who Are Ye Calling Drunk Ye Cheeky B*******.
