I once followed evicted peasants from the Brazilian state of Maranhão 2,000 miles across the Amazon to the land of the Yanomami people, then watched them rip it apart.
in Brazil like the Yanomami who are being dispossessed and eliminated in the name of ''progress''; which is an extension of the concept of ''Manifest Destiny'', and an ethic that is more of a real theft of property than any Beothuk ever did to his fellow man.
It raises mercantile progress above all else and the Yanomami in Brazil are being genocidally dealt with under this doctrine to this very day.
