b. A modern-day descendant of this people.
2. Any of the Mayan languages, especially Quiché and Yucatec.

According to a report by BBC News, the depictions, created during the Maya Classic Period, are so accurate they could help researchers spot plants with hitherto unknown medicinal uses.
Specifically, this is the costume of the Maya Maize God, suggesting that this figure is impersonating the deity during a ritual.
