50) An account from the 1750s seems to confirm these earlier Portuguese sources which say this was an Indian remedy, though the observer still thought it worked quite well: There is likewise known on the Malabar-coast chiefly, a most violent disorder they call the Mordechin, which seizes the patient with such fury of purging, vomiting and tormina [sic] of the intestines, that it will often carry him of in thirty hours.
