In this article, we compare the out-of the sample performance of the information cost model (denoted ICM) with as benchmark, the jump diffusion model (denoted JDM) of Ball and Torous (1983, 1985) and Maltz (1996).
The findings of a study performed by Franks and Torous involving 41 Chapter 11 companies demonstrated that junior creditors, common stockholders, followed by preferred stockholders are the winners in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings while senior creditors are the primary losers (The Kindness of Chapter 11, 1991).
