Anyone who has been to the Guggenheim in Bilbao will have walked through the enormous torqued ellipses and spirals in his work The Matter of Time, which are on permanent show.
[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] LATE IN THE AFTERNOON at the final Sunday afternoon performance of the fourth and most recent Beacon Event, this past July, I leaned against the balustrade on the terrace above the Robert Irwin garden and watched the dancing on the stage at the north end of the gallery against the backdrop of Richard Serra's Torqued Ellipse II, 1996.
What makes that a problem is that some of the larger vehicles like the M939s and M977s require some wheel lugs to be torqued counterclockwise.
