I usually go on to Cherington and do a circuit bringing me into the town from the north, but yesterday I varied it with a straight ride up the lane, across the A46 to Hazelgrove Farm and the Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar which marks a height of 204 metres.
To assist in their huge undertaking, over 5,500 triangulation pillars were erected and these are scattered around the country, not only on top of hills and mountains but also hidden away in towns and cities.
The summit is dominated by the remains of the Jubilee Tower although the natural highest point is at the triangulation pillar to your right.
