This is a new Urtext edition by French music specialist Roger Nichols.
23) Since 2003, Amos Editio has published Kapralova's childhood compositions, and, in partnership with the Society, a first complete, critical edition of Kapralova's art songs for voice and piano, a first, urtext edition of her song Leden (January) for soprano/tenor, flute, two violins, violoncello, and piano, and a first, critical edition of Sonata appassionata, op.
Both of these recordings use the Barenreiter Urtext editions that first appeared on record in David Zinman's Beethoven cycle for the Pro Arte label, but only Haitink's resists the temptation to speed up the tempo beyond recognition as so many other contemporary performances do.
