There's nothing remotely wrong with varietal wines per se.
Most said that varietal wines were easier to understand than wines with place names, and varietal wines were more universal--especially the international varieties--and less intimidating.
For example, late last year Delicato Family Vineyards released three award-winning premium varietal wines in its 3-liter Bota Box, which boasts its own specially designed spigot and collapsible bag to prevent oxygen from reaching the wine.
