The petrochemicals sector is controlled by the state-owned Qatar Petroleum (QP), and its JVs by 2013 are to produce 6m t/y of ethylene, ethylene dichloride (EDC), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), and propylene and polypropylene (PP).
The Skikda ethylene complex also produces 40,000 t/y of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), 35,000 t/y of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), 48,000 t/y of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and 10,000 t/y of hydrochloric acid (HCA).
After introducing the history of PVC and its commercial significance, the collection of papers includes such topics as vinyl chloride monomer, polymerization, stabilizers and lubricants, plasticizers, processing aids and impact modifiers, fillers, compounding processes, alloys, physical properties, fire performance, fabrication, product engineering design, health and safety, and the structure and dynamics of the industry.
