4 million for the fourth quarter 2000 versus the 1999 fourth quarter, primarily driven by the product launches of generic versions of Adalat CC, Procardia XL and Voltaren XR as well as the inclusion of branded pharmaceutical product sales from newly acquired Biovail Pharmaceuticals (formerly DJ Pharma) products including Keftab, Cedax, Rondec and Dura-Vent and a higher level of sales of the Tiazac(R) brand reflecting further market penetration for this well established franchise.
This represents the fourth approval in the past twelve months that Biovail has received from the FDA for the marketing of generic versions of branded products including Cardizem CD, Voltaren XR, Procardia XL and Adalat CC.
Eugene Melnyk, Chairman of the Board, commented, "Biovail's 70% increase in total revenues is primarily due to the launch of several new products including generic versions of Voltaren XR and Adalat CC 30 mg and the first commercial launch of a product utilizing Biovail's flash dose technology.
