The Coontail is often confused with other water based plants like the musk grass, water weeds and milfoils.
In his last tally, from 2005, unwelcome aliens, from feral pigs and starlings to water weeds and plant pathogens, cost the United States almost $120 billion a year.
I would warn against water weed killers as they often cause more problems than they are meant to cure.
