A blue whale's tongue is around the size and weight of a fully-grown African elephant and its heart is similar in size to a Volkswagen Beetle.
One hypothesis is that such an impact could have punctured the whale's trachea (airway to the lungs), forcing air into the whale's tongue, causing it to inflate.
The whalers would sit back and allow the Killer Whales to eat the whale's tongue, and then the whalers would take the rest of the carcass to shore.
