These White Nights, as the geographical peculiarity is dubbed, are celebrated with musical festivities in St Petersburg, so it was fitting that native Vasily Petrenko - not long back from last month's festival - should head this latest in the RLPO's Summer Pops season.
And the Shetland books - Raven Black, White Nights, Red Bones and the forthcoming Blue Lightning - are now destined to be turned into a TV series, after a production company snapped up the rights.
The North East-based writer discussed her popular Shetland series of novels which include Black Raven, White Nights and the forthcoming Red Bones at the free event.
