amphetamine [æmˈfɛtəˌmiːn -mɪn] n (Law / Recreational Drugs) (Medicine / Pharmacology) a synthetic colourless volatile liquid used medicinally as the white crystalline sulphate, mainly for its stimulant action on the central nervous system, although it also stimulates the sympathetic nervous system.
