The works were by 17th century painters Flemish David Teniers, Dutch artists Willem van de Velde and Jan Brueghel de Jonge, as well as 19th century French artists Eva Gonzales, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro and Paul Desire Trouillebert.
Willem van de Velde the Younger, arguably the most important marine painter of his time, went further, treating the sea as a stage for the action portrayed and a vehicle for his tour-de-force renderings of luminous skies and water reflections.
Naturalistic views by David Teniers the Younger, including "A Sow and Her Litter," seascapes by Willem van de Velde the Younger, and luminous landscapes by Dutch masters Jacob van Ruisdael and Aelbert Cuyp are among the highlights.
