Byline: Nadia Saleem Airbus story Dubai Airbus, the world's largest commercial plane manufacturer, yesterday launched redesigned wingtips for its single-aisle A320 family that can improve fuel efficiency and add up to $220,000 (Dh808,295) in fuel savings per year on each plane for airline companies.
Air New Zealand will be the launch customer for 8ft tall, fuel-saving wingtips that Airbus will introduce on all its A320-family jets from 2012.
The first model of the mid-range airliner to be fitted with the wingtips will be delivered around 2012, Airbus chief operating officer John Leahy said as the Dubai Airshow opened.
