Others, like the fluorescence microscope have their own specific sources of illumination, in its case a mercury-vapor lamp or a xenon arc lamp.
They use xenon arc lamps to reproduce full-spectrum sunlight--UV plus visible and infrared.
The traditional method employs a white light, typically from a Mercury or Xenon arc lamp.
