The Siege of Leningrad Is Lifted (1944)

Epilepsy May Be behind Chopin's Hallucinations

Composer Frédéric Chopin, known for his lyrical, often melancholy, compositions, may have suffered from a form of epilepsy. Letters written by Chopin, as well as the memoirs of those close to him, describe hallucinations that have in the past been attributed to Chopin's artistic tendencies. However, researchers now say that these visions could have been the result of a temporal lobe epilepsy that produces conscious hallucinations and intense emotions that last from seconds to minutes.
