Toward the end of World War II, the German Luftwaffe introduced a new weaponry scheme that consisted of two airplanes attached to each other. Called the Mistel, it featured a crewless bomber packed full of explosives and mounted below a manned fighter plane. Peace of Münster Signed Between the United Netherlands and Spain (1648)

In 1581, several years after the seven northern Netherlands provinces of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Gelderland, Overijssel, Friesland, and Groningen formed the Union of Utrecht, they declared independence from Spain. Decades of conflict followed. When the Peace of Westphalia ending the Thirty Years' War was reached in 1648, it included the Peace of Münster, a treaty between Spain and the United Netherlands that ended the Dutch Revolt. Abdullah's Birthday in Jordan (2016)

Since 1999, the year Adbullah II bin al-Hussein succeeded his father, King Hussein, as national monarch, Jordan has celebrated the king's birthday. It is typical on this date for the Royal Hashemite Court of Jordan to publish various well-wishes that arrive from international dignitaries. Before 2007, the country also observed the day as an official national holiday by closing all its banks and stores. Continued Instability in Egypt Could Lead to Collapse

It has been two years since the start of the revolution that toppled the regime of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and about six months since the newly elected president, Mohamed Morsi, took office, but political unrest continues to destabilize the country. Recently, the chief of Egypt's armed forces went so far as to say that the current political crisis "could lead to a collapse of the state." His comment came after days of violent protests erupted again in cities across the country, claiming the lives of more than 50 people and prompting Morsi to deploy troops to three cities along the Suez Canal where he has declared a state of emergency.
