HMAS Australia Is First Ship Ever Hit by Kamikaze Attack (1944)

In Japanese, kamikaze means "divine wind," a reference to the typhoon that foiled the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1281. Today's Holiday

Chung Yeung (2015)

It's customary, as on the festival of Qing Ming, for families to visit the graves of ancestors, tend their gravestones, and make offerings of food, which are eaten after the ceremonies are completed. It's also traditional on this day for people to go to the hills for picnics and kite-flying, which stems from traditional lore that holds that kites can convey bad luck up into the sky. It is a public holiday in some places, including Hong Kong and Macau. More...

Daily Multivitamin May Provide Cancer Protection

Though the primary purpose of taking a multivitamin is to prevent nutritional deficiencies, a daily dose of the supplement could also provide a measure of protection against cancer. A randomized, double-blind study of nearly 15,000 men found that those taking a daily multivitamin had an eight percent lower risk of developing cancer in later life. The effect may be small, but it is statistically significant. More...
