Madame Tussauds

A skilled wax sculptor, Marie Tussaud served as art tutor to Louis XVI's sister until the French Revolution began. During the Reign of Terror, Tussaud made death masks from heads—often those of her friends—freshly severed by the guillotine. She moved to Britain with her collection of wax models, and, in 1835, established a museum that remains a principal tourist attraction, now known as Madame Tussauds. Adolf Eichmann Found Guilty of War Crimes (1961)

Adolf Eichmann was a high-ranking Nazi official who oversaw the maltreatment, deportation, and murder of millions of Jews during World War II. He promoted the use of gas chambers for the mass extermination of Jews in concentration camps and is considered to be largely responsible for the logistics of the Final Solution, which was the Nazi policy to exterminate millions of people. Cannon was an American astronomer whose cataloging work is still in use and serves as the basis for modern theoretical understanding of stellar evolution. In 1897, she became an assistant in the Harvard College Observatory, where she later served as astronomer and curator of astronomical photographs. Relic Looters Caught Red-Handed Near Dead Sea Site

A group of thieves in Israel was recently caught while leaving a site known as the "Cave of Skulls," not far from where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. This area still contains many artifacts—such as tools, shoes, and papyrus documents—from Jewish rebels who hid there in the days of the Roman Empire. The dry desert climate has kept many of these relics intact, and they are often sold for high prices on the black market.
