The Pan American Games is a multi-sport event open to competitors from all nations of the Western Hemisphere. Patterned after the Olympic Games and sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee, the games are held every four years in the year preceding the Summer Olympic Games. Faulty Equipment Could Be Behind Recent Neutrino Find

Months ago, researchers made headlines when they claimed to have recorded subatomic particles called neutrinos travelling faster than the speed of light. The research threatened to undermine a key part of Albert Einstein's theory of special relativity, which asserts that nothing in the universe can travel faster than light. However, the team has now identified two potential problems with their experimental equipment that could have affected their results. Researchers found a loose cable that could have caused the neutrinos' speed to be registered as faster than it actually was, but they also found a problem in the timing system that could have had the opposite effect.
