Genius

In Roman mythology, a genius was the guardian spirit of a man, an institution, a city, a state, or a large family unit known as a gens. Guatemalans Sue US over Syphilis Experiments

Guatemalans who were deliberately infected with syphilis by US doctors in the 1940s have filed a class action lawsuit against the US government. Between 1946 and 1948, US scientists studying the effects of the disease infected hundreds of Guatemalan prisoners, psychiatric patients, and orphans without their consent. The tests were kept secret for decades, but a medical historian discovered evidence of the program and revealed the findings last year. The US government has since apologized for the "reprehensible" experiments but failed to agree to a compensation settlement. More...
