Alain Robert, the French Spider-Man

Robert is one of the world's most famous builderers. The so-called French Spider-Man got his start scaling buildings as a youngster and, despite several early falls that left him permanently disabled, has gone on to climb some of the world’s most famous and tallest man-made structures, including the Eiffel Tower, Sears Tower, Taipei 101, and many more. Jamestown, Virginia, Founded (1607)

Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in the New World. It was founded by the London Company on a peninsula—now an island—in the James River and named after the reigning English monarch, James I. Jamestown Day

Jamestown, Virginia, is the site of the first permanent English settlement in America, and it is also home to some other firsts‐both good and bad. It established the first representative government on the continent and built America's first Anglican (Episcopal) church, but it also brought the first African slaves to the colonies. On Jamestown Day, a commemorative service is held at the original settlement site, with speeches, choral selections, and a procession to the Memorial Cross, which marks the town's earliest cemetery. An apparent flare-up of street violence at a New Orleans, Louisiana, Mother's Day Parade turned what should have been a joyful family event into a horrific scene of carnage. Luckily, none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening. The authorities are now searching for the suspects and are appealing to witnesses for help. More...
