Ronald Reagan Challenges Mikhail Gorbachev to "Tear Down This Wall" (1987)

The Berlin Wall was erected in 1961 by the East German government and later extended along the entire border between East and West Germany. After he contracted an unrelated illness that forced him to stop taking his prescribed immunosuppressants, which prevent the body from rejecting foreign tissue, doctors determined that it would be necessary to amputate his donor legs to allow treatment of the undisclosed illness.
