Sexual Cannibalism

Sexual cannibalism is the phenomenon in which an organism—typically a female arachnid, insect, or amphipod—kills and eats another member of the same species before, during, or after copulation. By consuming her partner, the female may gain certain nutritional benefits, and by staying long enough to allow himself to be eaten, the male may increase his chances of reproducing. US Senate Ratifies the Antiballistic Missile Treaty (1972)

The Antiballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty of 1972 limited the number of defensive antiballistic missile systems allowed to the US and USSR. Nebuta Matsuri

Nebuta Matsuri, the main festival of Aomori Prefecture in Japan, features processions of huge, elaborately painted papier-mâché figures called nebuta. Illuminated from within by candles, they glow as they are carried through the streets at nightfall. Spectators wear hats made of flowers and dance in the streets. More...
