Grosmont Castle

Grosmont Castle is a ruined castle in Wales very near the English border. It was one of three castles in the area and dates to the 11th or 12th century. It was probably used as an administrative center before being converted to a fortress. In the 13th century, King Henry III's son Edmund made the castle his residence and rebuilt part of it. Poorer People Pay Price for Smoking

One strategy that some governments have adopted to curb smoking is the imposition of high cigarette taxes, but for those smokers it does not deter, the resulting financial burden can be a heavy one. In the state of New York, which imposes a $4.35 tax on every pack of cigarettes—the highest such tax in the US—low-income smokers spend nearly a quarter of their earnings on cigarettes. Researchers suggest that more of this tax money should therefore be used to fund programs that help low-income smokers kick the habit. More...
