Saladin

Saladin was a Muslim warrior of Kurdish descent and the first Ayyubid sultan of Egypt and Syria. He was the nemesis of the Crusaders but nevertheless became a celebrated figure in Europe for his chivalrous ways. He united Egypt, Syria, northern Mesopotamia, and Palestine, and his reputation as a virtuous but firm ruler rekindled Muslim resistance to the Crusades. Capote cultivated celebrity and was famous in later years for his jet-setting lifestyle as well as his writing. Capote was reportedly the inspiration for a character in what famous novel? More...

Neutrinos Reach Record Speed, Faster than Light

An international team of scientists says it has recorded subatomic particles known as neutrinos travelling faster than the speed of light. If their findings prove to be correct, the discovery would undermine a key part of Albert Einstein's theory of special relativity, which asserts that nothing in the universe can travel faster than light. If something actually can travel faster than the speed of light, then it could mean that time travel is possible. More...
