Best to keep in mind, then, that The Story of Utopias is a book which is a study of other people's utopias by a man who himself did not refuse as inappropriate the agnomination "eutopitect." He saw himself not just as an historian or critic of others' utopian thought, but as somehow a mediator between them and a wider, better-informed audience.
