The presence or absence of latent packing ability based on making full use of crystallization technology can be judged by the method of interfacial films, which arranges the functional parts in the same plane, even for a molecule that is not
amphipathic. Then, if the functional part is found to dominate the formation of the structure, a way to control the physical properties of the objective polymers as a whole is developed by evaluating the properties of the unit selectively.
The CombiPlex technology utilises two proprietary nano-scale delivery platforms: liposomes to control the release and distribution of water-soluble drugs and drugs that are both water and fat-soluble (
amphipathic) and nanoparticles to control the release and distribution of non-water-soluble (hydrophobic) drugs.
Alternatively, EIP, with its mixture of cationic and
amphipathic structures, could act as a surfactant, and surfactants are known to be able to contribute to biofilm detachment (Diaz De Rienzo et al., 2016; Silva et al., 2017).
It has been well established that bile acids, the
amphipathic detergent-like molecules as the end-products of cholesterol catabolism, could promote the solubilization of cholesterol and dietary lipids and are critically involved in lipid, cholesterol, and glucose metabolism (8,9).
As such, they possess both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties (
amphipathic characteristics), and are able to spontaneously form bilayers.
ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) translocates cholesterol to the cell surface, where they appear to form lipid domains that interact with
amphipathic ahelixes in apolipoproteins.
The mutated hydrophobic patch appears to be part of a conserved membraneassociation motif in GT-B enzymes that often consists of a hydrophobic loop followed by an
amphipathic helix containing basic residues in the N-terminal domain [63].
Furthermore, the hydrophobic acetyl groups grafted onto CS through the 3,6'-OH hydrophilic groups affected the water solubility of chitosan making it
amphipathic. When ACHA was dissolved in distilled water (Figure 6(a)) and 1% acetic acid aqueous solution (Figure 6(b)), the dissolution time was only 6 minutes.
The introduction of the
amphipathic helix of apoA-I into protrusion on the plasma membrane [153], similar to the solubilization by apolipoprotein of multilayer vesicles [143, 154], leads to the dissociation of cholesterol and phospholipids in apolipoproteinlipid complexes from the plasma membrane.
Firstly,
amphipathic peptides with positively charged residues are attracted to the vicinity of the cell surface by electrostatic actions.
CD is an
amphipathic molecule with secondary hydroxyl groups on the wide side and primary hydroxyl groups on the other narrow side.
