A luminous, white, diffuse spot occasionally seen in the sky opposite the sun on the parhelic circle.

The anthelion is a reflected, usually whitish image of the Sun produced in the ice crystals of cirrus clouds.
The anthelion ("opposite the Sun") is located 180[degrees] of azimuth away from the Sun but at the same altitude.
What I saw that morning on my way to school is technically called an anthelion. The sundogs that are more commonly seen are parhelia, prismatic bright spots 22 [degrees] on either side of the Sun.
