A study was conducted to characterize 30 autochthonous lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains isolated from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of three fish species; Atlantic horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus), European pilchard (Sardina pilchardus) and Atlantic bonito (Sarda sarda), on the basis of phenotypic characters.
The dispute in question concerns the management plan for Baltic cod, but three other plans are also blocked: Atlantic horse mackerel (since November 2010), Bay of Biscay anchovy (since November 2010) and Baltic salmon (since November 2012).
These include plans for Western Atlantic horse mackerel and Bay of Biscay anchovies.
