Bafta presenter, hosting the show from 2001-2006 and since 2012
Mr Leigh's most recent award was a
BAFTA academy Fellowship 2015.
Last year, for example, the
Bafta best film shortlist featured 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, Gravity and Philomena.
"We've gotten a little more ambitious in terms of what we and
BAFTA seek to accomplish," Simon says, pointing to the 10 million hits the network got for its YouTube segment of Sacha Baron Cohen knocking an "elderly" woman off stage last year.
"Over the past few years, we've developed complex projects for the likes of Marriott, Novotel and The National Trust, so when we were asked to work with
BAFTA, we were honoured and thrilled in equal measures."
The free screening was part of a series of
Bafta Christmas Hospice events for life-limited children and their families across the UK.
"My sincere thanks to all at
Bafta Cymru; I look forward to another award in 2036."
Bafta also acknowledged EastEnders star June Brown, who plays Dot Cotton, with her first nomination, in the best actress category.
