(bûr′bĭj), (Eleanor) Margaret Born 1919. British-born American astronomer who with her husband Geoffrey Burbidge (1925-2010) collaborated with Fred Hoyle and William Fowler in research on stellar nucleosynthesis. She is also especially known for her spectroscopic study of quasars and galaxies.
