The main predators of the nyala are lion, leopard and the Cape hunting dog. Mating peaks during spring and autumn, and after a gestation of seven months, a single calf is born.
We might have been influenced by a recent wildlife documentary, but we chose the African Cape hunting dog. They're not the prettiest animal in the world, but beauty can only be skin deep at times.
