(sər-văn′tēz sä′ə-vā′drə, thĕr-bän′tĕs sä′ä-bĕth′rä), Miguel de 1547-1616. Spanish writer best known for his satiric narrative Don Quixote (1605-1615), which parodies the conventions of chivalric romance and significantly influenced the development of the novel as a literary form.
