Charles XIV John

also Karl XIV Johan Originally Jean Baptiste Jules Bernadotte. 1763-1844.
King of Sweden and Norway (1818-1844). He served under Napoleon Bonaparte in the Italian campaign (1796-1797) and was elected crown prince in 1810, founding the present Swedish royal dynasty.
