Speed tip: Instead of making round scones, mould all the dough into a low circle like a cob loaf, then cut it into 6-8 segments.

At the same time, I had disappointments: my wholemeal loaf was underdone inside and burned to a crisp outside while the comment on my cob loaf - "looks promising, but on examination too dense" - is the sort of judgment more usually made about me.
