Cone of rays

(Opt.) the pencil of rays of light which proceed from a radiant point to a given surface, as that of a lens, or conversely.

In the problem illustrated in Figure 1, the cone of rays within the contour [OMEGA]' and with radiation pattern I(([eta]) is reflected within a beam with contour [OMEGA]" where the power density is represented by G([zeta]).
As the figure shows, all off-axis features are illuminated at a different angle by the cone of rays. Illumination at different angles is a common theme in both CT and tomosynthesis.
