Correction: The amount of water used in mixing an engobe can be reduced by the addition of small percentages of a
deflocculant (such as sodium silicate, Darvan #7 or Darvan 811).
Step one was to take white earthenware clay and add water and a '
deflocculant' to create the cream-like 'slip' which would be poured into the moulds.
A tetrasodium pyrophosphate
deflocculant was used to enhance clay particle dispersion within the slurries generated.
Okra polysaccharides can be used for non-food applications such as brightening agent in electro deposition of metals, as
deflocculant in paper and fabric production, and as a protectant to reduce friction in pipe-flow.
Excellent
deflocculant in Low Solids Non-Dispersed Muds or Inhibitive Lime Muds, improves fluid loss control by improving clay platelet orientation.
However, if the molecules are of low molecular weight (<1000 Da) and unable to attach to several clay particles, or once these bonds are broken, disaggregation may occur and the organic matter would act as a
deflocculant (Shanmuganathan and Oades 1983).
In recent years, the new generation of plasti-cizer admixtures--dispersants-
deflocculant (polycar-boxylate esters PCE) are widely used to regulate the rheological properties of paste.
Deflocculant FS-20 (BASF, Germany) and Si[O.sub.2] were used as additives.
According to PATIN (1999), ferrochrome lignosulfonate, a common drilling fluid additive used as a thinner and
deflocculant, reduced survival and growth of fish egg and fry.
Next, flow behavior of aqueous suspensions containing different percentages of black carbon studied by the addition of three kinds of
deflocculant with different percentages at two conditions of constant and variable pH.At the final step, suspensions of black carbon and silicon carbide with various percentages of solid material and fixed volume ratio of these two substances were prepared and all the mentioned experiments were repeated.
The reference also includes a manufactures directory with available contact information; a function/application index allowing the user to locate chemicals based on functions such as accelerator, antistat, catalyst,
deflocculant, or plasticizer as well as application key words such as adhesives, coatings, inks, paper, water treatment, and the like; CAS and EINECS/ELINCS number indexes; a chemical formula index; a glossary; and a bibliography.
