Beaconsfield Road, Balsall Heath, is named after Benjamin Disraeli (First Earl of Beaconsfield), the leader of the Conservatives who was Gladstone's great rival.
Built around 1812 by a local landowner, legend has it that Benjamin Disraeli, the First Earl of Beaconsfield and Britain's only Jewish Prime Minister, used to stay in one of the upper rooms in the pub when visiting Wales.
The street is named after the first earl of Beaconsfield, known to most of us as Benjamin Disraeli, Queen Victoria's favorite prime minister.
