(Chemistry) a test for detecting the presence of certain metals in compounds by the coloration they give to a flame. Sodium, for example, turns a flame yellow
Both of these new TPEs, Flexalloy 89504-90 and -90FR, have 90 Shore A hardness, are UL recognized for Oil I and II as insulation, and meet requirements of the VW1 (UL 83) flame test. The FR grade provides a greater level of flame resistance and has UL recognition for meeting the 720-hr sunlight resistance test in all colors.
When submitted to the middle and high flame intensities, the seeds gave rise to more vigorous seedlings, practically twice as large as the seeds from the low flame test. These results contradict those observed by Queiroga et al.
Scientists often have to doubt their own data to see if their hypotheses stand the flame test; historians do so, too, as they modify narratives whenever pertinent new pieces of a historical puzzle are brought to light.
New capabilities include the cone calorimeter, which measures heat release characteristics of finished fabrics more thoroughly than a traditional vertical flame test over a Bunsen burner.
Technical Bulletin 117-2013 addresses concerns about flame retardant chemicals by eliminating the previously required open flame test and relying on three tests to evaluate the cigarette ignition resistance of upholstery cover fabrics, barrier materials and filling materials.
