This is the philosophy of the hybrid open source movement (also known as Free/Libre and Open Source Software, or FLOSS) and the Creative Commons, which is often confused with the free software movement outlined below.
The free software movement in Brazil has its roots in the 1990s when GNU-Linux, a FLOSS operating system, was installed on computers in universities, particularly in computer science departments.
