Gon`o`the´ca

(Zool.) A capsule developed on certain hydroids (Thecaphora), inclosing the blastostyle upon which the medusoid buds or gonophores are developed; - called also gonangium, and teleophore. See Hydroidea, and Illust. of Campanularian.
