Grape hoe

A plow that used a scraper instead of shovels, and had a disk to cut into the ground and prevent the scraper from causing the implement to slide sideways. In addition, one of the handles could change the disk direction and thus cause the implement to move laterally as it was pulled forward.

Most growers do this in the traditional way by using a grape hoe device to "hill up" over the graft union.
Avoid injury to the vine from grape hoes, string trimmers, large pruning wounds, etc., because they create portals for opportunistic bad guys such as crown gall.
