(grə-mē′kō, grō-), Andrei Andreyevich 1909-1989. Soviet political leader who served as ambassador to the United States (1943-1946) and the United Nations (1946-1948). He later held the posts of foreign minister (1957-1985) and chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (1985-1988).
