I·ba·dan
(ē-bäd′n, ē-bä′dän) A city of southwest Nigeria north-northeast of Lagos. Founded c. 1830 as a military camp, it developed into the most powerful Yoruba city-state before coming under British control in 1893. Today it is a major commercial, industrial, and cultural center.
