The RAF Tactical
Imagery Intelligence Wing (TIW) uses the Goodrich Intel System to produce intelligence from imagery captured by the RAPTOR system.
As the strategic certainties of the Cold War descended into the ambiguities of this multi-polar world, that we are now a part of, the human, signal and
imagery intelligence that's provided by the DIA remained absolutely critical to understanding the world we faced and maintaining our ability to be able to respond to that kind of world, to the threats and challenges that we confront.
The series of images were captured by Alex Birch and having ruled out lens flares and aircraft, he contacted the Ministry of Defence, who sent them to the Defence Geographic and
Imagery Intelligence Agency (DGIA) in July 2004.
The organic or augmenting geospatial engineering units available to the commander operate within the command s GEOINT cell As discussed in chapter I, the GEOINT cell is composed of imagery analysts and geospatial engineers that provide GEO I NT capabilities (GI, imagery, and
imagery intelligence [1MINT]).
However, we then use these initial tip-offs to guide other ISR assets (signals intelligence and
imagery intelligence) to further refine the intelligence picture.
*
Imagery intelligence (IMINT), which includes literal photographic, digital, or radar pictures of targets.
DIA directs and manages Department of Defense intelligence collection requirements for the various intelligence collection disciplines such as human intelligence, measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT),
imagery intelligence (IMINT), and signals intelligence (SIGINT).
The opening chapter considers the complexity of the intelligence cycle beyond the typical model, while later contributions look more specifically at signals intelligence,
imagery intelligence, human intelligence, open- source intelligence, and technical difficulties of intelligence sorting.
* Declining utility of traditional
imagery intelligence against unconventional weapons programs.
This includes analysis support of maritime surveillance operations, intelligence product development and
imagery intelligence analysis training support programs.
"In airborne video surveillance, the ability to associate geospatial information with
imagery intelligence allows decision makers to view the geographical context of the situation, track and visualize events as they unfold, and predict possible outcomes as the situation develops," Davis explains.
